In honor of Computer Science Education Week (December 6-12), Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) of Western Mass and Greater Boston invite you to a Hack-a-thon.
Registration costs $20 for non-members. CSTA Plus members receive a $5 discount. If you are a member of CSTA-Western Mass the system will automatically recognize that you are a CSTA Plus member. If you are a member of CSTA-Greater Boston, use the "Join CSTA-Western Mass" link in the Join menu to join CSTA-Western Mass (at no cost) to receive the $5 discount. If you are interested in a discounted bulk student registration (college and university groups of 10+ students) please email the event organizer. The first 100 people to register will receive a free swag box with goodies. The first 25 people to sign up for the iRobot Education workshop will receive a free Root rt1 Coding robot. The first 15 people to sign up for the micro:bit workshop will receive a free micro:bit. Attendance for the day is required to receive a robot or micro:bit.
We will use national CSTA's Hopin platform for this virtual event. You will receive an email from Hopin one week before the event asking you to confirm your registration, and another email the day before the event with the link to join.

9:00-9:30 - opening, purpose & theme
9:30-10:30 - workshops
10:30-12:00 - work time
12:00-12.45 - lunch
12:45-2:30 - work time
2:30-3:30 - presentation / showcase
3:30-4:00 - closing
When you register, you will be asked to sign up for a workshop. The workshop will provide an introduction to the coding tool you will use to create your project. No experience required! Mentor support will be available throughout the day as you work on your project with your team. Workshop availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note that the iRobot workshop is now FULL and is no longer included as an option on the registration form.
To Do
  • Sign up as soon as possible to get your first choice.
  • Create an account on the tool's website and/or download the appropriate app before the day of the event.
  • Look for follow-up emails from us with more information on how to use Hopin, workshop-specific prep, etc.
